Daniel J. Salchow, M.D.

Daniel J. Salchow, M.D. is a American board-certified ophthalmologist, with fellowship training in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus (diagnosis and treatment of misalgnment of the eyes), and has over 20 years of professional experience. He is certified as an ophthalmologist (eye doctor) by the American Board of Ophthalmology (ABO) and the Berlin Medical Association (Ärztekammer Berlin). Prof. Salchow is a licensed physician and surgeon in the United States (State of Connecticut).
Prof. Salchow did his residency in ophthalmology at Columbia University in New York City (2001-2005), before he completed a fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC (2005-2007). From 2007-2012, Prof. Salchow was Director of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus at the Department of Ophthalmology, Yale University in New Haven (USA). After returning to Germany, Prof. Salchow lead the Section of Pediatric Ophthalmology, Strabismus and Neuroophthalmology in the Department of Ophthalmology, Charité (2012-2024).
Since 2017, Prof. Salchow has been on the “TOP DOCTOR” FOCUS List since 2023 considered an OUTSTANDING SPECIALIST by the Stern Doctor List.
Prof. Salchow is an internationally recognized pediatric ophthalmologist and strabismus expert, also focusing on neuroophthalmology. He has published over sixty peer-reviewed papers in international scientific journals and has given over 100 lectures and presentations. He is editor of the journal “Strabismus” and reviewer for numerous scientific journals. Prof. Salchow serves on the advisory board of the Society for Neuroophthalmology, Strabismus and Pediatric Ophthalmology (GSNK), and is a member of the Scientific Bureau of the World Society of Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus (WSPOS).
